NEWS 27.01.2024. UPDATE.

The on going work on Yeovil East has been greatly speeded up by the new lifting board system see the video above.

NEWS FROM THE CIRCLE 02.01.26.

HAPPY NEW YEAR.

The new year has a plan as last year but no time table, things will happen when they happen.

We would welcome new members, any skill level, just pop in, or ring Graham on 01823 327155.

First job will be fault finding on points 13 to 16 ????? with no clues to work on!! The layout is actually working well and we are hoping this year will see Pen Hill points electrified and the branch reinstalled. However, before that, the YE indicator board will be installed and YE will be made pretty with some scenery.

NEWS FROM THE CIRCLE 03.09.25.

Trains are moving, points are changing, and you are missing out!

Yes its been a long time but we have been working 4 days a week and the progress has been hard won! 2 years of point motor installing, 150m of cable have been installed under Yeovil East, the new Southern shed board is doing its best. Many things have been added with a new control panel in the centre and 2 turn tables, one working and one almost working, time will improve the main table in Yeovil East.

We would be pleased to see old members and NEW so come and help us run more trains, soon! please.

NEWS FROM THE CIRCLE 03.06,25.

Long time no chat but we have been working very hard. The layout has trains running again, the inner turn table is fully operational with the Southern turn table to be worked on. IF you haven’t visited us may I recommend you come and have a look and maybe drive a train.

YES, YES, YES, ‘YEOVIL EAST’ IS DOWN AND READY

TO CLEAN AND THEN RUN TRAINS.

NEWS FROM THE CIRCLE 29.03.25.

The ongoing work for Hub 1,2 & 3 are complete and have been tested, all good.

This means that, all being well, we hope to lower ‘Yeovil East’ next MONDAY!

Then we have the whole layout, track and stock to clean to be ready for trains to run.

As the weather is improving we will be open MONDAYS, WEDNESDAYS, FRIDAYS & SUNDAYS. THIS WILL START FROM 13th APRIL.

NEWS FROM THE CIRCLE 13.03.25.

The work to connect the point motors to the HUB 1 is complete and has been tested, all OK. The next job is to connect HUB 1 to HUB 2, we have been held up on this as we have not received the new cable yet. HUB 3 will be sited for the master control. We are still hoping to have trains running again very soon

NEWS FROM THE CIRCLE 01.02.25.

Good news PART 1. is COMPLETE !

This is very good news as, thanks to the members for helping, we are in front of my plan. The next section to complete is the point motors terminal blocks, wire and code the cables to the hub. From the hub the cables will run to the new screens, (the new screens will be made and installed after the Yeovil East board is lowered ready to operate).

NEWS FROM THE CIRCLE 24.01.25

The work with Yeovil East turned up is going well, this work is split into many sections.

Section 1 we are working on is part 1 of the point display boards, part 2 will connect the point motors to the hub and then onto the screens.

Section 2 will be to add the signal wiring.

Section 3 will be to any wires that I have forgot, then will be the big test.

NEWS FROM THE CIRCLE 07.01.25.

The push for Christmas was a disaster! Southern shed board was fitted and working when the accessory decoder for the points failed and that after being pre tested and programmed and tested again before fitting. I was not able to hold the new unit, the fixing screws and the torch laying on my back to fix the new unit, the screws keep falling on to me, I do not have 5 hands! Rethink, so lifting the board was the only answer. However, we had added the Southern shed board and had not added any counter balance weight to the back of the Yeovil East board. So Pat and I had a very hard time lifting the whole board. NEW YEAR came and went, and we were back to the layout with Yeovil East standing up. What next you ask? yes you can ask and I will try to answer, we will do the things that are on the program for Yeovil East development of signal and point indication panels, street lighting, the platform lights and the building lights, these will be fitted and installed before the board is lowered again.

SOME GOOD NEWS!

Yesterday working went well, the aim to have the street and platform lights working happened. The next section to wire up will be the extra wires to the point motors is going well and this stage should be finished next week with some luck going our way!
